Could a car owner have custom car audio added to a vehicle with lambo doors? That question has popped into the head of a freelance writer in California. The writer has previously witnessed all of the operations involved in the process of adding custom car audio to a Jeep Cherokee. Now she has learned that car owners are being encouraged to get Lamborghini-like doors.
That freelance writer hesitates to imagine what she may next find in her driveway. In November of 2005 the writer found two young adult males using her driveway as the site for the addition of custom car audio. One of those two lads had taken a course on auto mechanics with the former instructor at Culver City High School, a school close to Sony studios. He had agreed to share his knowledge with the writers son. Hence, the two of them had commenced the long process required to complete a custom car audio job.
At one point the writers son called to his mother and invited her to come outside and to see for herself what her son and his friend were doing. What that writer saw was two car doors with the stuffing pulled out of them. The quest for a custom car audio system had led those two young men to place speakers in the doors of the Jeep Cherokee.
The two stereo specialists did not show the writer how they had wired the speakers to the power source and to the amplifier. Their failure to grant the writer a look at their wiring operations has caused that writer to now ponder on a particular question: Could a vehicle with car speakers in the doors also have lambo doors? In other words, could a car owner who enjoyed the sound delivered by custom car audio logically expect to add lambo doors to that same car?
The writer has seen pictures that show how the lambo doors swing upward, instead of swinging out. Wiring speakers into such doors would seem to present a real challenge. Could one have custom car audio in a car with such doors? One writer in California wants to know.

Edmunds and several leading automotive blogs are theorizing that Buick will finally go ahead and build a sport version of its popular LaCrosse midsize sedan. Unlike the original model, the proposed car will be a true roadster as Buick seeks to inject some youthfulness into its aging model line. This is big news for Buick, which hasnt built a true youth oriented car since stopping production of the hot-rod Regal Grand National during the 1980s. Will the Super Sport be enough to help Buick recapture a lost segment of the marketplace? That remains open to debate, so lets see what Buick is planning with the Super Sport and then you can decide for yourself.
For the past several years, Buick has been near the top in most customer satisfaction and quality surveys. After years of languishing much further down the list, Buick decided to truly emphasize quality and that move has paid off. However, quality cars are one thing while exciting cars are another. Quite simply, Buick hasnt been building cars that are high on the wow factor list. Sales have remained flat as the age level of its buyers continued to rise. Anyone who understands the business of cars will tell you that you must continually appeal to a younger audience in order to grow and prosper. Lets just say that even younger AARP drivers havent been heavily drawn to the current Buick model line up.
As far as the Super Sport goes, the car is based on the concept Velite a car that has been appearing at auto shows over the past few years. Much like the Lexus SC430, the Super Sport will be targeting upscale buyers attracted to a combination of luxury, performance, and premium styling. While drive train information hasnt been finalized, reports of a 300 hp V8 being offered has been circulating. Likely, this engine will be mated to a six speed automatic. A 3.6L twin turbo producing more than 400 hp has also been rumored for the Super Sport, but that engine choice might be scratched if gas prices remain historically high.
Information about specific Super Sport features is rather limited, but if the car holds true to the Velite concept, buyers can expect the following with the Super Sport:
– Heritage styling based on a late 1930s Buick boat tail design. Buicks recognizable waterfall grille design coupled with decorative side portholes are also expected to appear on the Super Sport.
– 20 inch front wheels and 21 inch rear wheels; rear wheel drive.
– Leather 2 plus 2 seating.
– A retractable hood that will fit snugly into the trunk.
– Full cabin amenities including OnStar and XM satellite radio switches integrated into the dashboard.
Beyond what has been listed, the rest is speculation including possible build and release dates for the Super Sport. GMs current financial woes will impact the final decision on whether to build this car, but if approval is given a 2008 or 2009 release is possible.
Yes, Buick needs a car of this caliper to breathe new life into a rather uninspiring line up. Prices for the Super Sport will likely exceed $40,000 limiting the cars appeal to those with significant means. Still, if Buick is able to pull it off the Super Sport it may pave the way for additional model changes, perhaps even opening the door for a Regal-inspired car to rejoin the line up. Now that would be great news for a brand that sorely needs a fresh youth injection.

With the 34 GTR no longer in production Nismo decided to attempt building what they believed to be the ultimate Nissan Skyline GTR. Utilizing many years experience within different racing scenes it could be argued that Nismo should have the ability to do exactly that. This vehicle was to benefit from the many years of success Nismo had within motor racing. Successful race cars include the Gr-A, N1, GT500, and the “Nrburgring specification,” This car had be comfortable for the street and comply with today’s new and strict emission laws, perhaps Nismo’s biggest challenge to date.
The basic concept of the car was completed in 2000 when Nismo competed in what was called the “tuners battle” power was restricted to 600ps and Nismo came out on top. This concept was then taken to the next level were luxuries had to be added to make the car comfortable for street use. Making a race car street friendly has many challengers brake and clutch feel needs to be light and easy to use, suspension needs to softer, and luxuries like Leather seats and air-conditioning need to be added.
All these luxuries add weight so Nismo had to find a way to shed it and carbon fiber was the answer. This killed two birds with one stone by using carbon fiber chassis rigidity was also improved. To improve chassis rigidity even further the, door frames, front strut upper hood reinforcement area, and center tunnel were all spot welded and CFRP adhered. The aero parts of the car including the front bumper, front blister fenders, and hood were all made of highly ridged carbon fiber.
Aero parts were designed with cooling and down force in mind. The front bumper has large air ducts so cool air is fed to the engine, brakes and oil coolers. Fenders were widened 15mm to fit wider tread and has ducts inside the engine bay to exhaust hot air from the engine bay. The bonnet also contains ducts to exhaust hot air and utilizes a duct to ram cool air into the intake at high speeds. Front and rear under spoilers are used to improve down force.
Beating in the heart of the Nissan Skyline is a race edition RB26DETT which had proven itself lemans 24 hour race and named the Z2. This engine generates 368kw and 540Nm. NISMO utilized the many parts which had been proven on race engines and each engine was carefully hand built by Nismo mechanics and engineers to ensure the finest quality.
Many would agree that the Nismo Nissan Skyline GTR is the ultimate street performance car. It is luxuries, tame enough to drive on the street comfortably and yet its race bread heritage means it still performs brilliantly on the race track. Along with the V40 and the V50 estates, the Volvo S40 sedan is sold by Volvo Cars as a compact car. It first was launched in 1995 and has two distinctly different models. This vehicle has a common platform as with the Mitsubishi Carisma. Despite sharing the same platform, Volvo boasts that its S40 has 4000 unique parts from that Mitsubishi Carisma and that of the remaining thousand parts, 650 of these were manufactured and crafted by Volvo itself.
Five years after it was launched, the Volvo S40 underwent a facelift and there were also technical improvements done to it. There was an increase in the size of its brake disks, along with some upgrade done to some suspension components. The track width of the Volvo S40 was also widened slightly. With these changes done to the original Volvo S40, the finished product was then dubbed and referred to as Phase II models. These vehicles were equipped with a 1.9 liter diesel or 1.6 liter, 1.8 liter, or 2.0 liter uncharged fuel injection petrol engines. In the middle of 2004, however, a new Volvo S40 was introduced, this time using the Volvo P1 platform as its base. During the same year, the Volvo S40 was nominated for the World Car of the Year award for 2005. It also bagged the prize for the Canadian Car of the Year Best new Sport Compact award that same year. Also, it has been elected as the South African Car of the Year for 2005 by the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists.
At present, the Volvo S40s has a wheelbase of 104 inches, an overall length of 176 inches, a width of 70 inches, a height of 57 inches, and 3,400 pounds in weight. One of the models of the S40 carries with it a 2.5 liter five-cylinder fuel injected engine that has a light-pressure turbocharger. Its valve train has four valves per cylinder and is crafted with a DOHC design. The engine of the Volvo S40 is diagonally located at the front of the vehicle and this drives the front wheels.
As per the 2005 Volvo S40 looks and feels like a softened Volvo. It has a sleeker front with more curves that carries the important function of saving lives if a pedestrian should be hit. Comparing this new one with the models before it, this one has is taller, wider yet shorter. This is a handsome vehicle with four doors and proper bar door handles on the outside. So lets imagine that you and your significant other just finished a bottle of wine… Now take a look at the bottle and lets imagine that the more part under the skinny neck (you not the bigger part) is the motor of an engine. Now you see all that air stored in the bottom part of the bottle, thats engine exhaust. Well what are you waiting for, take all that air that the engine has and push out the thin little neck. That is what the engine is trying to do every time one revolution of the engine goes through and then your engine is idling at 2,000 rpm. Yes that is revolutions per minute.
I was trying to get a point across and I dont know if I did. For every one revolution your engine goes through, it takes air and fuel, ignites it and the left over, carbon dioxide, is expelled. So as a professional in the field of performance accessories, I can say: A stock exhaust is not made for optimal performance. Well you cant really blame the automobile producers. They have to worry about noise and pollution (which are mandatory by laws); cost of producing millions of each individual component, the list is endless.
So the answer is a better performing exhaust by a reputable company. Now lets say that you take that bottle of wine we were talking about previously and put an imaginary performance “muffler” at the end. Well you got the exhaust sounding pretty good, but there is still bottle neck (no pun intended) in the process. You can expect to get a couple of HP (horsepower) on to your auto or truck but without widening up all of the exhaust, you really wont get a measurable increase in power. At least not one you will feel when you mash down on the gas, not that we do that in public streets Mr. Police.
Now this is really a small portion of performance and in particular exhaust systems. In reality we can write full books on these and there are. There are a number of alternatives that will result in savings. Among the best is the use of credit cards that offer rebates. By using the right cards you can lower your costs without having to change your driving habits or do any special maintanance on your car.
Many gas companies offer credit cards that pay rebates on gas purchases. The typical card will rebate you 10% on your gas purchases for the first two or three months and then rebate you 5% on your gas purchases thereafter.
For example currently Hess Oil has a credit card that will pay 10% for the first 60 days for Hess gas purchases and 5% for Hess gas purchases after 60 days.
Marathon Oil has the same 10% for 60 days 5% thereafter program. Speedway has an 8% for 60 days and 4% thereafter credit card program. All these cards also offer 1% rebates on other purchases and can be used anywhere Visa or MasterCard is accepted.
The examples just listed are issued by gas companies. There are also general market credit cards that will provide you with discounts off your gas costs.
Many credit card companies offer cards that have special rebate amounts for gasoline. For example: currently Discover Card is issuing a Discover Gas Card that will give you back a rebate of 5 percent of the gas you purchase with the opportunity to increase it to 10 percent at selected retailers. It also gives you a 1 percent rebate on other purchases.
Another example: Chase has a gas MasterCard that will give you a rebate of 5% for gas purchases and 2% for purchases everywhere else.
The advantage to using a general market card as opposed to a gas credit card is that you can use the general market credit card to buy gas at any station and get the high rebate. The gas company card only pays you the high rebate at the gas company’s own stations.
On the other hand the gas company credit card will generally pay you a premium of 10 percent or 8 percent for the first 60 days where the general market card may not.
That is the main strategy for getting a discount of anywhere from 4 percent up to 10 percent. Certainly any rebate is welcome in light of the cost of gasoline. 4% is good and 10% is even better. But there may be a way to cut your cost of gas even more. Maybe even to 14%.
Here’s how. Many gas companies offer pre paid gas cards or gas gift cards. In many cases these prepaid cards will offer a bonus or discount. For example in some cases you can purchase a $50 gas card for $48.
That means you pay $48 for the card but the card allows you to buy $50 worth of gas. That is the same as getting a 4% discount. In most cases you must buy these prepaid cards at the gas outlet.
Now here is where the extra savings comes in. If you purchase the prepaid card using the gas company credit card during the initial period when you are getting a 10% rebate you will get a 10% rebate on the prepaid card.
Then if you are buying a prepaid card that gives you a 4% discount, the $50 dollar card for $48 cost, you are compounding your savings.
You are getting a 10% savings on the rebate and you are getting a 4% savings on the prepaid card. In total you are getting a 14% savings!
